Eco Trade Frames
The Cost Effective and Environmentally friendly Windows at Affordable
Prices.
Manufactured in a standard range of profiles and ideal for the Self
Builder and Developer looking for quality frames at competitive prices,
where quality and price are paramount.
The styles available are casement in storm proof and flush, traditional
sliding sash and mock sash, with the option of Georgian or Victorian bar.
All our frames are fully moulded with bevelled frames and beads giving a
quality look and feel to the window sets.
The frames are manufactured primarily from premium, joinery grade Redwood
which is a relative of pine with the option of
hardwood
window sills for added
durability. The full hardwood windows option is also available in a range of
materials to suit individual requirements. All our European timber is
from FSC managed forests. (Forestry Stewardship Council)
Trade Frames Durability
Durability is guaranteed with immersion pre treatment to prevent
attack by beetle or worm and assured with a heavy primer-coat application of
premium grade “Sikkens” micro porous water based coatings. The coating
system is entirely solvent free and applied using high pressure airless
spray which provides minimum over spray and high transfer efficiency for an
extra thick coating. The final finish is customer applied on site usually
after fitting, we can also supply the paint in any colour or stain if
required for customer application.
Frames can be supplied pre finished where required and with the option
of a two tone finish.
Where Egress (fire escape) for bedrooms is required we fit a stainless
sliding friction hinge that allows the sash to open out to 90 degrees from
the frame.
To provide a fully draught free fit when shut all our frames have a
rebated heavy duty rubber sealing strip with memory which maintains its
shape and flexibility, this provides a long life simple solution to the
elimination of drafts.
Glazing and Styles of Frames
Glazing is all 24mm double glazed and starts with low “E” also know as
“K” glass, this is a reflective coating applied to the inside face (between
the unit) of the inner glass pane and provides a u value (Kilowatt hours
lost per square metre per year) of 1.7, this can be upgraded with various
other coating and Argon filling down to 1.1.
There are various styles of frame available, these include the most
popular styles such as the storm proof casement where the sash
(opener) lips over the frame and provide in effect a double weather seal
hence its name. To provide equal sight lines the fixed frames can also be
sashed or direct glazed. All have stainless steel friction sliding hinges
and multi point Espagnolette locking mechanisms with a vent facility. The
hinges and locking mechanism ensure the frames remain square and warp
free.
To match the traditional flush (cottage) style where the sash(opener) is
flush with the frame we provide a double stepped frame which has all the
advantages of the storm proof but the look of a flush fit with equal
spacing all round the closed sash. Because of the stainless friction hinges
and multi point locking concealed behind the second step our flush sashes
always stay square in the frame unlike traditional flush sashes which hang
at all sorts of odd angles as the butt hinges lose the fight against
gravity.
Sliding Sash Windows
Sliding sashes are available and again come fully draught stripped, the
sashes run on spiral balancers which consist of a spiral threaded rod
fastened to the main frame at each side of the sash, the sash has a trunnion
(rotating nut) which runs up and down the spiral rod thus keeping the
sash tacking true and straight. Locking is provided by rotary catches on
the top of the sash and engages in a keep on the other sash.
The traditional pulleys and weights are aimed specifically at the listed
building market and where local regulations dictate that a traditional style
be used, the extra frame thickness required usually means the sash is fitted
in the reveal in the inner leaf of the dwelling with a wide architrave
covering the sash boxes. In some cases such as wide and shallow frames the
weight of the double glazing cannot be balanced with the sash weights so we
need to resort to spring balancers, tall frames which tend to be the norm
are not so much of a problem.
